The fast searching aspect of Cobalt can be used with systems consisting of a single camera or systems made up from hundreds of cameras. A search query for a video stream from a camera is generally set up in a matter of seconds.

Searching an hour of data typically only takes one second, so the response to the query is almost immediate.

The video stream generated by Cobalt software consists of two components: the compressed (and perhaps encrypted) video stream and an Image-DNA stream.
