About us - Pioneers of video imaging, setting the new industry standard

In this section

Astraguard has been a pioneer of PC-based video imaging technology since 1983. Today, its breakthrough software for video detection, analysis and compression is set to become a new industry standard − radically reducing the time and cost involved with surveillance.

Astraguard integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructures, delivering tailored solutions for advanced video detection, storage, transmission and management. Its modular design allows for endless adaptability: customised plug-ins offer unlimited user-defined solutions, from number plate recognition to production line quality control with total alarm management.

Astraguard technology can be found installed in Local and National Government including the Police service, the Home Office, Customs and Excise and all Category 'A' prisons in England. Other customers include high-end industrial and commercial organisations such as Rolex and the Bank of England.

The company is based in the south of England and has representatives in Denmark, Holland and Norway. The Technical Director is Professor Bernard Jones, Visiting Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Gröningen, who also has a PhD from Cambridge University, and has been directing academic research projects for over 30 years, and commercial research projects for 20 years. He is a scientist of international repute and has many years' experience in project management. The Managing Director is Dr. Janet Jones who has 20 years experience in running small companies. Originally an academic, she has a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University, and an MBA from the Open University.

Much of their work is focussed on advanced research and development in dynamic imaging. Earlier this year, Astraguard won the Kent Land Securities 'Innovation In Business Award'.
